3 ridiculous traffic laws you’re breaking without knowing

Summary:

Most drivers aren’t fully up to date on all traffic laws, especially those that are outdated or unusual. Many people take the driver’s test as teens and rarely revisit the rules afterward. However, police can still enforce lesser-known laws, and you might be breaking them without realizing it. Here are three strange traffic laws that are still technically in effect.

1. No reversing on public roads (Arizona): In Arizona, it’s illegal to reverse your vehicle on a public road unless you can do so safely and without interfering with traffic. This means that if you miss a turn or end up in the wrong lane, backing up isn’t allowed unless no one is around and it’s completely safe.

2. No honking at restaurants (Arkansas): In Arkansas, it’s against the law to honk your car horn at a restaurant that serves cold drinks or sandwiches after 9 PM. Strangely, if the restaurant serves only hot drinks and no sandwiches, you’re allowed to honk.

3. No black cars on Sundays (Colorado): In Denver, it’s reportedly illegal to drive a black car on Sundays. Though the origins of this law are unclear, about 21.6% of Colorado drivers could be unknowingly violating it weekly.
